The Department of Health Promotion has expertise in designing and delivering capacity building and training programmes in wider variety of areas. Such programs are designed based on the areas such as community well-being, Early Childhood Development (ECD), child protection, nutrition promotion, alcohol and tobacco prevention, reduction of suicide, violence prevalence, mental well-being and adolescent well-being
Policy and National Strategic Plan Development
The Department of Health Promotion provided technical assistance in developing Home Based ECCD strategic Plan for the Ministry of Women and Child affairs in 2019.
Health Promotion Advocacy Network
Strengthening Inter – Community Health Promotion Networks Project conducted with the support of Plan International Sri Lanka from January 2011 to December 2013. This was the only such project in the country.
Workforce Training/Capacity building
The Department of Health Promotion has provided it’s expertise to wider range of national and international organizations in order to train staffs and capacity building towards achieving national health outcomes.
The academic staff members of DHP work as advisors on health promotion to the Regional Director – South East Asian Regional Office, World Health Organization; and also holds memberships of the WHO Scientific Advisory Group (SAG) on health promotion.
Advocacy through mass media
The Department of Health Promotion has identified the mass media as imperative platform to reach large number of people across the nation. Academic staff of the DHP conducts number of television programmes on wide range of topics mentioned below.
