The Department of Computing has undertaken a full revision of the curricula for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. This is the first comprehensive curriculum revision for this degree programme since its launch in 2006. The Department anticipates to come up with a honours degree programme with an up-to-date curriculum.
As the first step towards this, the Department conducted a stakeholder consultation workshop on 16th – 18th January 2020 at Berjaya Hotel, Mount Lavinia, Colombo, with the participation of top and middle level technical personnel from several leading IT companies in Sri Lanka. The two consultants for the curriculum revision, Dr. Gamini Wijayarathna, Dean, Faculty of Computing and Technology, University of Kelaniya and Dr. Shantha Fernando, Senior Lecturer, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Moratuwa also participated in this event.
The industry participants studied the existing curriculum and suggested necessary changes and additions. They also expressed their willingness to assist in continuous updating of the curricula according to the emerging trends in the IT arena.
