The Faculty of Applied Sciences has been offering the Postgraduate (research) degree programs: MPhil and PhD since 2011. All Postgraduate program had administered by the Committee named as Higher Degree Committee chaired by the Dean of the Faculty with the cooperation of a Coordinator appointed by the Faculty Board. Recently, it is also intended to offer the Postgraduate Diploma in Child Protection.
With the development and demand increased for registering students to Postgraduate programs, Faculty has established the Postgraduate Unit to the Faculty with the approval of the authorized body of the University in August 2021. Further, Faculty has enabled to activate four Boards of Studies; Life Sciences, Physics & Chemistry, Mathematics & Computing and Health Promotion & Health Sciences comprising of the internal as well as external members under the Postgraduate graduate Unit in 2022. The Postgraduate Unit is directed by Dean of the Faculty. The present Coordinator of the Unit is Prof. EMRAKB Edirisinghe, Professor in Chemistry, Department of Chemical Sciences, Faculty of Applied Sciences.
